Meet Randy Metzger

Randy Metzger arrived in Jacksonville in September 2002 with a skilled background in custom cabinetry — but the local market wasn't ready to put those skills to work. Rather than wait, Randy took a position with a landscape design company, running their crews and quickly discovering a natural talent for outdoor construction and client relationships.

It was during those years that Randy built something even more valuable than technical skills — genuine relationships with the best vendors and suppliers in the Jacksonville market. When that landscape company went out of business in 2005, Randy saw an opportunity. He stepped in to fill the void, launching his own company and leaning on those vendor relationships to fuel his growth. Those same vendors became his earliest advocates, sending referrals his way and helping him build a reputation from the ground up.

For years, Randy & Ray's LLC ran entirely on referrals — 100%. No advertising. No cold calls. Just satisfied clients telling their neighbors, friends, and family about the contractor who showed up, did exceptional work, and treated them like people — not projects. That reputation is the foundation everything else is built on.

Randy launched Randy & Ray's LLC alongside his longtime friend Ray Proctor, who shared a passion for the craft while maintaining a full-time corporate career. As Ray advanced through multiple promotions, Randy carried the business forward solo. Since 2021, Randy has been the sole owner — bringing the same personal commitment and attention to detail that made the company's reputation in the first place.

What drives Randy most isn't the pavers — it's the people. He takes genuine pride in becoming more of a trusted friend than a disposable contractor. There is nothing quite like watching a client walk through a completed project and seeing that moment of pure satisfaction — or better yet, being completely blown away by the finished result. That moment never gets old.
